Welcome to Waverley School Birmingham

I’m delighted to welcome you to Waverley School – a unique and exciting place! It is also a place I am settling into myself as the new Executive Principal. I hope you will share my enthusiasm for the school as we move to the next chapter in the school’s development.

As an all through school, Waverley School accepts children into its Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form Provision. We are a family focussed and inclusive school that can cater for your child’s whole education, something very few schools can claim. As a result of our through school nature, we can get to know our students and their families very well, building excellent relationships and a real sense of community – many often comment on the ‘Waverley Family’ feel we create as a result of the caring ethos.

We build our curriculum around the values of Humanity, Equality, Aspiration and Respect. These values permeate everything we do, genuinely offering children the opportunity to explore their own views and the views of others. As a result of this approach our students are quick to realise that every single individual is different, and that all have something to contribute. This forms the basis of our principle of ‘Learning Through Diversity’; developing our students into well rounded citizens ready to enter modern Britain and the global community beyond.

It would not be a welcome to a school without also mentioning academic achievement. We are incredibly proud of our achievements in all phases of the school. Our Primary team record progress rates that are above average. We then build upon this excellent start within Secondary. Our most recent provisional GCSE results also represent progress rates that are above average. At this point students conclude their compulsory education. The vast majority of our students achieve so well at GCSE level that they are able to secure their first choice Sixth Form/College place or enter their desired apprenticeship. For many the first choice Sixth Form is right here at Waverley School. You can appreciate why students make this choice when achievement at ‘A’ Level and Level 3 Vocational courses is as strong as it is. As a result of their years of education with us, every single student in our Sixth Form was successful in securing either university entrance or degree level apprenticeships.

I’m sure that from reading this, you will want to explore our offer further. We hope you will find what you want on our website or you are welcome to contact us to find out more at enquiry@waverley.bham.sch.uk.
