Creative iMedia

Curriculum

Students commence studying Creative iMedia in Year 9 (the foundation curriculum year) although there are elements of the iMedia curriculum delivered as part of the Computer Science KS3 curriculum in Year 7 & 8. 

KS3/4 - year 9, 10, & 11

Students use their time in Year 9 to develop skills assessed in the OCR Creative iMedia qualification. 

There are four modules within this course:

  • R081 - Pre-production skills
  • R082 - applying pre-production skills
  • R085 - creating a multi-page multimedia presentation
  • R087 - creating interactive multimedia products.

The following modules are studied in R081 - pre-production skills:

  • Identify a range of pre-production document and comment in their use
  • Interrogate client requirements 
  • Plan design documents to meet client requirements 
  • Create a range of pre-production document: 
    • Storyboards
    • Mind maps
    • Mood boards 
    • Visualization diagrams 
  • Review documents and suggest improvements. 

The following modules are studied in R082 - applying pre-production skills:

  • Understand file types 
  • Create a range of pre-production documents 
  • Source and store assets 
  • Create a digital graphic suitable for audience and purpose 
  • Evaluate final graphic. 

The following modules are studied in R085 - creating a multi-page multimedia presentation & R087 - creating interactive multimedia products:

  • Create a range of pre-production documents 
  • Source and store assets 
  • Create a digital graphic suitable for audience and purpose 
  • Evaluate final project
