The vision for Training@Waverley is that of a dynamic learning partnership. Schools in our area of the city work with some of the most disadvantaged children in Birmingham and, in a climate of reducing funding, we need to find ever more creative ways of collaborating effectively to close the gaps between groups of students and to raise the life chances and aspirations of our learners.
We seek opportunities to work collaboratively, share expertise and to benefit from economies of scale to explore and evaluate new approaches to teaching and learning. Our popular NQT and RQT programmes, engaging colleagues from a range of local schools, are good examples of this. Working across schools enriches staff development opportunities, including greater engagement in practitioner research. The continually evolving CPD programme is shaped by local needs and aspirations. For latest information on upcoming CPD opportunities, including NPQ qualifications through the ACTS NPQ Alliance, please see our Continuing Professional Development page.
We are proud of our flourishing School Direct programme, which involves more schools and trainees across both primary and secondary every year. These new entrants to the profession are committed to making a difference in our schools and we work hard to prepare them for a long and successful future with us. Whether you are a school interested in hosting a trainee or a prospective trainee yourself, see our School Direct page for more information.
