Year 7 Information Evening

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Waverley School – Secondary & Sixth Form as they begin an exciting new chapter in their education.

Starting secondary school is a significant milestone for every young person. It brings new opportunities, friendships, subjects and experiences, but we also understand that the transition can sometimes feel daunting. Our priority is to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, supported and confident as they settle into life at secondary school.

To support this transition, I am pleased to invite you to our Year 7 Welcome and Information Evening on Wednesday 16th September from 3:30pm to 4:00pm.

The evening will provide an opportunity for you to meet key members of staff and learn more about our school, including:

  • Our expectations for Year 7 students.
  • The pastoral and academic support available to students.
  • Homework, attendance, punctuality and uniform expectations.
  • Communication between home and school.
  • How parents and carers can support their child’s learning and wellbeing.
  • Opportunities for enrichment, clubs and wider school activities.
  • Important information about the year ahead.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and speak with members of staff. We hope this evening will provide you with useful information and reassurance as your child begins their journey with us.

At Waverley, we place great importance on building positive relationships with families. We know that strong communication and partnership between home and school plays an important role in helping young people succeed, both academically and personally.

We look forward to welcoming you and working closely with you over the coming years as your child settles into our school community.

Yours sincerely,

Mr H. Derry

Principal
