Message from the Head of School, Ms S. Dosanjh
I feel an enormous sense of privilege in having the opportunity to lead the Primary phase at Waverley School
Waverley is a hugely exciting place to be. It is a school that is committed to achieving the highest quality learning experience for all of its pupils and to achieving the best possible outcomes for all. An environment where pupils are taught to think by teachers who inspire them; where individuals are valued and helped to achieve their personal best. Crucial to our success is the unlocking of personal as well as academic potential to grow character and a core set of values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours.
Our standards are high and expectations clear, and as such we pride ourselves on making a difference to the lives of our young people. The aim for every pupil at Waverley is to have the highest regard for learning and an unwavering belief that by challenging themselves, they can be the best that they can be.
Our ability to offer a seamless educational experience for pupils right through from Early Years to Year 13 provides our pupils with a strong sense of belonging and stability, and an opportunity to grow into responsible and successful young people fully equipped for life after school.
We live in exciting and fast changing times and this means that providing an outstanding, progressive and well-rounded education is more important than ever. Of course examination results matter and at Waverley our pupils are challenged to work towards academic success. However, this is just one aspect of a Waverley education and pupils are supported to show ambition both within and beyond the classroom.
Waverley provides a rich and varied programme of co-curricular opportunities including music, sport, drama, dance, outdoor education as well as an extensive range of other pursuits. These opportunities are all hugely enjoyable in themselves but they also help pupils to develop confidence and the plethora of skills they will require to be successful and happy in the demanding and ever expanding global workplace.
At the heart of the school’s success is a total commitment to the development of good, caring human beings through our tailored pastoral care. Everyone at Waverley is part of a happy and close-knit community where relationships matter and are built on the values of integrity and respect. We care about the individual and pride ourselves in the warmth of a community in which all our pupils feel valued. We recognise that when pupils, families and staff work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and appreciation, we can accomplish great things.
